Nettle

is a galactagogue, a herb that supports breastmilk supply. Nettle is believed to support lactation by providing essential nutrients. It is one of the most nutritious of the spring greens, containing high levels of vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium, potassium, folic acid, B vitamins, vitamin K, and essential amino acids. In addition, Nettle has some of the highest calcium levels when compared to other herbs, which allows for it to be a great tonic for the bones of breastfeeding mothers.

 

Moringa

For breastfeeding mothers, undoubtedly one of the most amazing benefits of moringa is that it has been scientifically proven to increase breast milk supply. Moringa leaves are a natural galactagogue - a substance that promotes or increases the flow of a mother's milk. It has been used since ancient times to boost breast milk supply as well as providing a source of nourishment for babies and mums alike
One of the most nutrient-dense foods in the world, moringa leaves are rich in 5 essential vitamins & minerals including iron, calcium, vitamins A, E & K. It is also a complete source of plant protein with all 9 essential amino acids, high in fibre and rich in  antioxidants. Using alfalfa while breastfeeding can increase milk supply and increase the fat content of your milk.

 

Marshmallow Root

Rather than strictly being used as a natural way to remedy low milk production, marshmallow root increases a woman’s estrogen level and the fatty tissues on her breasts – both of which help boost milk supply. 

 

Goat's Rue
